LXE
High-quality LUBEGARD® automotive products are produced by International Lubricants, Inc.(ILI). ILI's patented technology offers unsurpassed quality and performance. LUBEGARD® is fundamentally different from other products as it contains liquid wax ester (LXE™), which is extracted from various oil seeds and was developed in co-operation with the United States Department of Agriculture.
History
LUBEGARD technology was developed under the supervision of Dr. Phillip S. Landis, a recognised research chemist who headed up the Mobile Oil Applied Lubrication Research Group until his retirement in 1984. Before the US Protection of Species Law came into force in 1972, over 13,600 tonnes of sperm oil from sperm whales and their derivates were used as additives in practically all areas of the automotive trade. The substitutes that were subsequently developed for sperm oil can be combusted, oxidised, pyrolysed and thinned in the raised operating temperatures of modern cars.
